Integrative therapeutic massage calls on various principles, massage modalities and energy work to create a session that honors the whole individual on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. A container of openness is created between therapist and client to invite mindfulness and presence throughout the session with the intention that healing on any level is most productive in the now.
Two fundamental principles of integrative massage are embodiment and holism. Embodiment includes one's awareness of breath, holding patterns, sensations in the body, presence of emotions and streaming of energy. Holism is the concept that mind, body, spirit and emotion are inseparable and influence each other. They are constantly interacting to inform us of the quality of our existence.
Mindfulness, Embodiment and Holism are the root principles of integrative massage and are at the core of any session. Clients are invited to be open with their therapist on what they need, want and feel during their sessions and are the most important and active participants in their healing.
Massage modalities that can be utilized in an integrative session are Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Myofacial Release and various forms of energy work including Reiki and Craniosacral therapy.
Integrative massage places great faith in the deep inner wisdom to support each clinet's facilitation of its own well-being.
